UAE leaders attend camel race final round
Al Wathba: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday attended the final round of the annual Camel Race Festival at Al Wathba racetrack.
Their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council and Rulers of the Emirates Dr. Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi of Sharjah and Shaikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi of Ajman also attended the event.
Also present was General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
The race was also attended by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.
The Crown Princes and Deputy Rulers of Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and Ajman, in addition to other Shaikhs, ministers and senior officials also attended the race, which is organised annually as part of efforts to preserve the nation's rich tradition and heritage.
Later, Shaikh Khalifa held a banquet in honour of Rulers, Crown princes, Deputy rulers and senior officials.
At the end of the race, Shaikh Khalifa received from Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the one million- banner award and Afa'al -the camel owned by Shaikh Hamdan, which won the race on Sunday.
Shaikh Khalifa, along with the Rulers and Crown Princes and Deputy Rulers, presented the awards to the top three winners.
