Athletes get ready to take part in Mena Games

Abu Dhabi: Seventy players from 18 countries will take part in the table tennis competition in the Sixth Mena Games for the Disabled in Abu Dhabi from November 15 to 23.

The players will represent the UAE, Bahrain, Algeria, Egypt, Sudan, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Syria and Yemen.

Players from 10 countries will compete in the badminton competition. They will be from Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Oman, Syria, Lebanon, Kuwait, Palestine, Morocco and the UAE, who will field four men and two ladies in the competition.

The UAE will have only a men's team in the equestrian competitions in which they will compete against their counterparts from Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Morocco, Qatar and Syria.

Meanwhile, Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim, the chairman of the UAE Chess Federation, confirmed his association's support to the UAE team in the games.

"It is our duty to help the disabled to practice chess and also try our best to help them to live a normal life," Al Fahim said. "The Sixth Mena Games are not only a sports competitive event but a noble occasion and we are all demanded to help in achieving success to it."
