Burnaby, British Columbia: Canada beat Russia 22-6 in a steady downpour in their first rugby clash on Saturday.
From 6-6 at halftime, James Pritchard kicked Canada ahead with his third of four penalties, and Ander Monro landed a drop goal.
Then Tyler Hotson stole a Russia throw-in and Aaron Carpenter charged over for Saturday's game's only try.
Canada finished the year with a 3-6 win-loss record but still managed to qualify for the 2011 World Cup.
Russia, who lost to the BC Bears 38-16 midweek, were making their first tour of Canada to help prepare to qualify for their first World Cup.
