Dubai: ‘Hot' Rod Fuller insists his Abu Dhabi Yas Marina Circuit Drag Racing Team "is making waves", finishing quickest and fastest at the end of day three of the MAC Tools US Nationals in Indianapolis, before Monday's finals — the results of which only came through after print.

Saturday's first run of 3.874 seconds and 503.93 kilometres per hour had Fuller second by time and fastest in terms of kilometres per hour.

Going one better in the last run, Fuller smoked all contenders with a time of 3.864 seconds and 511.76 kilometres per hour putting Fuller first in elapsed time and terminal speed. The temperatures are predicted to be similar for the finals.

Advantage

"With two consistent, ultra-fast runs we've shown that we have the car to win the final. It's well known at this level of racing that whoever is fastest on the final day of qualifying has a leg up on everyone for the finals," said Fuller.

Fuller, a seven time Top Fuel series winner, added that, "to be quickest and fastest on day three of the US Nationals, the biggest drag race of the year — trust me, we are creating big waves."

This is the third fixture in a four-race tour of the United States for Fuller and Team Yas Marina Circuit Abu Dhabi.

He previously made the last of 16 at the July 16-18 Autolite Nationals in Sonoma, California and the semifinals of the Mopar Mile High Nationals in Denver Colorado.

The point of this tour is to get the team's name out there before returning to the United States next season for a longer 10-12 race tour.

It's hoped that by the 2012/13 season the newly formed outfit will be able to compete full-time in the US and European seasons, with Emirati drivers onboard and Fuller in contention for a World Championship.
