Mohammad's decree to boost sport in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi: General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, in his capacity as Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, issued a decree to organise the financial backing of the Abu Dhabi Sports sector.
According to the decree, funds will be allocated to the Abu Dhabi sports clubs, football professionals and a number of financial awards to clubs that win internal or external championships.
The decree also stated that if any club falls from the professional football league, it will only receive the fixed financial support.
The decree also stressed that if any of the Abu Dhabi clubs desires to establish a specialised football academy of international standards, approved by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, it will receive a substantial financial backing.
The decree also outlined the amount of financial backing each sports receives.
The second item of the decree stated that any sportsman from Abu Dhabi who achieves success for the UAE in one of the disciplines not included in the categories will also be awarded substantially.
The decree also mentioned the Abu Dhabi special needs sportspersons to be included for financial support.
The decree also stated that any club sponsors or takes part in any sports championship in Abu Dhabi has to carry its activities according to international standards.
