Indian High School wins boys' basketball at festival

Dubai:The Indian High School (IHS), Dubai had mixed luck in the boys' basketball on the third day of the IHS Sports Festival on Friday.

The IHS senior team showed good combination and skills to defeat Our Own Indian School (OOIS), Dubai 39-19. After forging a big 13-2 lead in the first quarter, the hosts kept increasing their momentum to finish the second 23-7. However, OOIS fought back in the third to reduce the lead to 28-15, before the hosts dominated again in the last.

The hosts' B team did not match up to their A team, surrendering meekly to The Model School, Abu Dhabi 25-4. In the other match between Sharjah schools, the New Indian Model School (NIMS) beat Emirates National School 46-35.

Earlier, in the girls' basketball competition, Delhi Private School, Dubai beat Emirates English Speaking School, Dubai 26-0.

In football, Gulf Indian School blanked Sunrise School, Abu Dhabi 3-0, while Delhi Private School beat Gulf Asian School by a lone goal in the 10th minute.

At the volleyball indoor sport complex, top-seeded New Indian Model School, Dubai defeated The Model School, Abu Dhabi 2 - 0 (25 - 16, 25 - 17).
