Dubai: The annual festive spirit of the final Saturday in March will be tinged with sadness as the curtain comes down for the final time at the Nad Al Sheba race course on Saturday night.

As one racing legacy is left behind the birth of another, keeping track of Dubai's progress, begins to take shape: Meydan, the ultra-modern racing city will be unveiled to the world next year.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, will attend the Dubai World Cup on Saturday.

Saturday night's enthralling race meet, culminating in the $6 million Dubai World Cup, promises to provide the perfect climax to the legend of Nad Al Sheba.

While thousands will throng to the race course to catch the electrifying action live, millions around the world will be glued to their TV sets to watch a few Emirati horsemen seek to steal the limelight and create racing history for the UAE.

While Godolphin trainer Saeed Bin Surour is eyeing a couple of winners, two newcomers to the world's richest race meeting - trainer Mubarak Bin Shafya and jockey Ahmad Ajtebi - are all set to cast a spell on the track with their magic.

Equine stars from around the globe, new-comers, proven champions and locally-bred heroes are all in the mix as Dubai braves the elements, intermittent rain has been predicted by the Met office, to unleash a night of unparalleled action, where tactics and speed are the name of the game.

Seen in action will be the finest thoroughbreds, sprinters, stayers, budding colts and the classy Purebred Arabians.

Come rain, wind, or storm, all roads lead to Nad Al Sheba as the venue comes alive for one final night to ensure that dreams are realised and champions are born.

Do you think jockey Ahmad Ajtebi and trainer Mubarak Al Shafya will make history in their first world cup attendance? Will this year's Dubai World Cup increase the popularity of horse racing in the region?

In my opinion, I can not make any predictions it depends on the outcome of the race. Remember that this is horse racing and there is a big prize stored for every winer, so what I can say is Good Luck for both of them.
