Las Vegas: Blake Griffin is out of the Olympic-bound US men’s basketball team due to torn cartilage in his left knee.

Griffin left the US camp and returned to Los Angeles on Thursday, where an evaluation by doctors of his Los Angeles Clippers team determined he will require arthroscopic surgery.

The Americans will be able to replace him on their 12-man Olympic roster, with Anthony Davis likely to be brought in.
