Dougherty and Warren victorious at tournament

Dubai: Tony Dougherty (3) and Helen Warren (36) won their respective Divisions at Arabian Ranches Golf Club on Saturday in the Individual Stableford tournament for members of the club.

Each player was granted full handicap allowance over the desert styled course set up slightly differently to the normal yardage to promote a swift summer round.

The card of Dougherty was impressive. Despite not scoring any points at the par three 7th hole he recorded six 3s with birdies at 1, 3, 8, 10 and 15.

Dougherty recorded 67 shots for 17 holes and shortly after returning his card the handicap committee cut him a shot down to a handicap of 2.

In the Ladies Division Fortuna Dougherty (25) returned a fantastic 38 which on any normal day would have taken the spoils.

However Helena Warren returned a card bearing 39 points, gross pars at 3, 5, 7 and 11 being the highlights for her despite not scoring on two holes.

Warren was also approached by the handicap committee and reduced from 36 to 33.

Elliott Gray commented "We have again witnessed some fantastic scores, congratulations to Helena winning for the 1st time in one of our club events and also to Tony who now will play off a handicap of 2."

Ladies' Division:

1st Helen Warren - 39 Pts

2nd Fortuna Dougherty - 38 Pts

Fortuna Dougherty (25) returned a fantastic 38 which on any normal day would have taken the spoils.
