Dubai: Lindsey Brown of Al Ain Palm Sports Resort won this weekend's second Dufry Ladies Open Golf Championship in thrilling style at the Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club.

22-year-old Brown from South Africa held a slender one shot overnight lead after an opening round of 82 from day two playing partner Sana Tufail (ADGC). Grouped along with third placed Nasha Sarkari of Dubai Creek, Brown got her round under way with four straight bogeys. Tufail completed the opening four holes in three over par. Professional Sandy Meyer made the early running jumping from seventh position overnight to pole. Brown started to steady the ship with pars on the fifth, a birdie on the par 5 6th and pars on holes seven through nine.

At the turn Brown remained one shot in the lead from Sandy Meyer (WGD) with Tufail one shot further back on +15. Brown again started her second nine indifferently, but fortunately for her so did Meyer. Tufail had the better stretch on holes 10 - 12 but a double bogey on the 13th kept her in third spot. Fatigue seemed to get the better of all three of the leaders on the back nine. Meanwhile defending Champion Jean Wang of the Sahara Golf Club, Kuwait kept a double bogey off her card. This resulted in a tournament best 79 to set Brown and Tufail a clubhouse target of 163 (+19). Brown and Tufail, on the 17th tee knew they had to finish level par and 1 under par to better Wang. Both pared 17, but Tufail bogeyed the treacherous 18th while Brown found the front edge of the green in two strokes, and a stone dead par put left here with only a six-inch tap in for the title.
