Uruguayan for Al Shabab

Dubai: Defending league champions Al Shabab have drafted Uruguayan junior Oscar Correa into their squad for the current season.

The South American defender completed his transfer formalities and joined the team training on Monday night.

As per the rules, each of the 12 teams in the UFL this year are allowed to register five foreign professional players, of which three are allowed to play in the senior team while the other two have to be part of the reserves.

However, in case there is a need, one of the two or both foreign professionals is allowed to play in the senior side.

Al Shabab faced a difficulty last week when their Brazilian playmaker Marcos Assuncao had to sit out with a one-match suspension against their home game against Al Shaab.

The defending league champions sought permission and had the services of Iranian Mehrdad Awladi, who is currently in the reserve squad.
