UAE FA accepts Salem Saeed's resignation

Abu Dhabi: The UAE FA board of directors accepted the resignation of Salem Saeed, the secretary of the FA Referees Committee, after their attempts to convince him to stay failed.

Saeed, a former midfielder with Al Shabab and the UAE, had been in his post for 11-years following his brilliant career as a Fifa referee.

He announced his resignation following accusation that he said Al Shabab would win the league title regardless of whatever any other team does.

Saeed is the brother of Ahmad Bin Hazim, the Chairman of the board of directors of Al Shabab.

"It is unfair and a crime what happened to me after 11 years of working in the refereeing sector."

Atmosphere

"I am sad that the local sports media opens its doors to anyone to say whatever accusations against those who work hard to improve the game.

"I cannot continue working in such atmosphere," Saeed commented.

Meanwhile, the UAE FA, in its meeting on Wednesday, decided teams can register three foreign players in the new first division league which will kick off next season with the two top teams winning promotion to the Pro-League.
