New Al Wasl coach says discipline is key

Dubai: Al Wasl's new coach will be stressing on internal discipline to try and resurrect his team's fading fortunes.

"We need to get more discipline in the game and the other aspects will gradually fall in place," admitted Srecko Juricic.

Al Wasl, league and President's Cup champions in 2006, have been on a steady decline this season.

The first to pay the price was their coach Miroslav Beranek from the Czech Republic, who made way for his assistant Jaroslav Horak.

Last month, the Al Wasl board drafted in Croatian Juricic to try and put their campaign back on track.

However, things have been far from satisfactory for the new coach as the former champions are at stuck in ninth place in the 12-team standings with six points.

On Friday night, they crashed to a 2-0 loss to Al Ahli to make it three losses for them in the five rounds of the league held so far.

"I've been here for a month and I am aware of the team's strengths and weaknesses. I certainly know my team better," Juricic stated.

"Everybody is playing his own way and I am not too happy about this. So we need to get in some more discipline within the team for sure," Juricic stressed.

The Croat has been in the UAE and the Gulf for more than two decades now. The highlight for the affable coach was definitely with the Bahrain national team when they nearly made it to the 2006 Fifa World Cup.

"Once we address this issue of team discipline, all the other aspects will fall in line," Juricic added.
