Dubai: Portugal legend, Nuno Gomes, says he may follow the example of his fellow countryman and football superstar Luis Figo, by moving to a Middle East club.
Speaking on the opening day of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Football Championship, the prolific Benfica striker said he would not rule out the possibility.
"If the timing and the money were right it is something I would consider," he said.
Gomes, 30, who is widely regarded as Benfica's best striker since the days of Eusebio, scored 15 goals in the 2005/6 season.
He is in Dubai for his club's winter training programme. The tournament sees Benfica clash with Lazio tonight for a winner's prize of $1 million. Second place will take $650,000.
The other two teams in the competition, Marseille and Bayern Munich play off for third and fourth place and $250,000 and $100,000 respectively
