Continental Tourism thrash Contractors Union in football

Abu Dhabi: Continental Tourism and Capital Police registered big victories in Sunday night's football action in the 10th Armed Forces Officers Club Ramadan Games here.

Continental made mincemeat of Contractors Union with a 11-0 win while the Policemen pumped five goals past Commandoes.

The football action in the Dh 5 million games takes a break due to the UAE First Division League matches.

In another match Infantry defeated Zarkuwa Island 2-0 to join Continental as joint leaders while Algerian Community trounced Hatta Youth 6-0 to head Group 2 with nine points followed by Purchasing and Stores Department with seven points.

In other matches, General Maintenance Department bt Al Bahar 2-0, Services and Security Outlets bt Abu Dhabi University 2-0, Emirates Horizon bt International Gas Services 5-1, Spider bt Al Ansari Financial Services 2-0, Shaikh Diab Bin Khalifa team bt Talas 3-0, Esnaad bt Tomas 5-1 and Carthage Eagle bt Al Minhal Travels 1-0.

"Most of the top players from outside the UAE are now appearing in the second week of the games which makes it enter an exciting stage.

"The tennis action witnessed some keen competition and continues while the snooker and TT action have also been offering exciting fare," said Mohammad Al Bushlaibi, Head of the Organising Committee.

The Games are being held under the patronage of Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs with Etihad Airways and Thales being the main sponsors.
