Dubai: The UAE Football League Tournaments Committee (UAEFLTC) has decided to suspend the Al Ain senior soccer team coach Winfried Schaefer for two matches and fine him Dh4,000.

The action came after the fight that erupted at the end of the Al Nasr-Al Ain league match last Thursday at the Al Maktoum stadium.

"The ban and fine imposed on Schaefer came due to him entering the field after the match, he was walking towards one of the Al Nasr players," said Yahia Abdul Karim chairman UAEFLTC after a meeting in Dubai.

"I think the suspensions were suitable according to our regulations and what happened," he added.

Tunnel fight

If this is repeated again suspensions could mean matches could be played without spectators, he warned.

The UAEFLTC also decided to suspend three players for two matches and fine them each Dh3,000, they were: Mahmoud Hasan and Abdullah Mussa (both from Al Nasr) and Andre Diaz of Al Ain. They had fought in the tunnel after the match.

The committee also suspended Al Nasr's team manager Eisa Juma for three matches and fined him Dh12,000. He had accused the UAEFL deputy chairman Mohammad Al Mahmoud of acting unfairly towards Al Nasr after the fight.

The UAEFLTC also sent a first warning to the Al Nasr club and fined them Dh15,000. They sent a second warning to the Al Ain club and fined them Dh20,000 for the brawl that occurred between fans when objects were thrown.
