Abu Dhabi: Shaikh Abdullah Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Ain club, expressed his delight with the league title win and promised that his team will be even better next season.
“We will sit with the coach [Cosmin Olaroiu] to discuss his plans for the new season regarding local and foreign players and the preparations for the new season because we want to achieve more good results locally and on a continental level,” Shaikh Abdullah said.
Olaroiu, who wore a shirt with a picture of Helmuth Duckadam, the President of Steaua Bucharest Club in Romania, and a big number 11 on the back, said: “When I first came here to Al Ain, I asked the players to leave all matches with heads held high. I told them never to bend their heads except to wear medals. And they have achieved that winning two league titles and one Super Cup.
“But I am not happy with only winning on the domestic level and I want to achieve success in the AFC Champions League. Next year we will work hard to do that.
“Like everywhere, we have to make some changes in our line up and we will also have to prepare strongly for the new season to achieve our goals in all levels.” Olaroiu added.
Asked about the picture on his shirt, the Romanian coach, said: “It is for the president of Steaua Bucharest Club, a friend of mine, who is in great suffering. This my way of telling him that I support him.”
