Respected UAE cricket umpire Prem Mishra dies

Prem Mishra was hospitalised for the last 25 days following respiratory and kidney failure

Dubai:  Prem Mishra, one of UAE's most experienced cricket umpires, died at the Belhoul Speciality Hospital at 4am on Sunday.

Fifty-six-year-old Mishra had officiated as fourth umpire in many international matches in Sharjah. He had also umpired in Mumbai's reputed Kanga League. He was hospitalised for the last 25 days following respiratory and kidney failure.

Mishra had recently officiated in the Gulf Super Sixes tournament at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Tariq Butt, who had officiated in many matches with Mishra, said: "I will miss him. He was a great colleague with whom I have officiated in over 100 matches. Even in his last match at the Sevens Ground recently I was his co-umpire. He was a great lover of the game."
