Pakistan and Windies likely to play in capital

Abu Dhabi: Pakistan and West Indies are likely to play a three-match one-day series in the first week of November here in the UAE capital.

Dilawar Mani, President of the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council, told Gulf News that the two teams had agreed in principle and the modalities of the memorandum were being worked out.

"We have been in talks with the two teams since December and since both are free during that period, we managed to rope them in," said Mani, confirming an agency report.

"I think both countries have very good teams and we can expect some high quality matches," added Mani during yesterday's first Twenty20 match being played at the Zayed Cricket Stadium between Lashings World XI and the Abu Dhabi Cricket Club Chairman's XI.

The Zayed Stadium has staged a one-day international series between India and Pakistan in 2006 and a tri-nation involving the two teams along with Sri Lanka. The ADCC have also organised an international tournament for A teams.
