Abu Dhabi: Nissan Al Masaood secured a crucial four-wicket win over Dubai's Yogi Group in the Ramadan Twenty20 tournament at the Shaikh Zayed Stadium.

Thursday night's win was their second in the competition, which has been organised by the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council, and it was a strong performance from their batsmen that paved the way for the win.

After losing the toss and being put in to bat, Yogi did well to score 162 for 5 in their 20 overs.

An unbeaten 83 by Swapnil Patil and his 123-run stand with Jai Prakash, who scored a valuable 41, gave Yogi a good total.

Patil hit three huge sixes and eight fours in his 55-ball 83, while Prakash made a slow start but accelerated to make 41 off 39 balls with five boundaries.

Nissan's run chase got off to a terrific start with Asif Butt hitting five fours and a six in his 15-ball 26.

His quickfire innings was followed by Saleem Eslam who thrashed 35 off 32 balls with two sixes and one four.

Mohammad Usman consolidated with 31 off 27 balls that included four boundaries.

The job was finished off by Mohammad Razik and Zaheer Baig. Razik hit an unbeaten 34 off 20 balls while Baig's 25 came off just 20 balls as Nissan won with three balls to spare.

Second match

In the second match of the night, tournament favourites Atlas Telecom managed to beat Gamco by 53 runs in their opening encounter.

Gafour Butt proved to be the highlight of the Atlas batting. He hit a 40-ball 62 with three sixes and six fours.

Atlas scored 169 but they did not manage to complete their overs and their innings came to an end with seven balls remaining.

Abbas Ahmad and Mohammad Salman took three wickets apiece as Atlas bowled out Gamco for 116.

Yogi Group will face Fortune Group in tonight's opening fixture, which starts at 8pm, while UAE Exchange Centre face William Hare Abu Dhabi Gymkhana in the second game at 11pm.
