Dubai: The UAE women's cricket team got off to a bad start in the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Twenty20 Championship which began in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, losing to Hong Kong by nine wickets in the opening match.
After winning the toss and putting the UAE into bat, Hong Kong restricted them to just 53 for 9 in 20 overs.
They then lost just one wicket as they raced to the target in just seven overs.
For the UAE, only two batswomen reached double figures.
They began by losing Sneha Sekhar, run out for 2. Opener Veni Praveen, who top scored with 19 runs, put on 32 runs with vice-captain Natasha Michael.
