Cricket academies in bid to reach out to young

Dubai: Cricket coaching academies in the UAE are now reaching out to different parts of the emirates to spot talent and train budding cricketers.

The cricketlovers.com academy will be flying in former Indian pacer T.A. Sekar and spinner Ashish Kapoor to conduct camps in Fujairah. Sekar was the chief coach of the MRF Pace Foundation, and Kapoor has bagged 398 wickets in Ranji Trophy.

"We are focusing on the east coast part of the UAE. The coaching camp will be held at the Indian School in Fujairah. This will enable cricketers from the Khorfakkan area to attend the camp," said Gopal Jasapara of cricketlovers.com.

Sekar and Kapoor will conduct the coaching camps on December 3 and 4 from 9am to 12pm at the Za'abeel Park and from Al Madina Cricket Training Centre, Sharjah from 4pm to 6pm.

The Fujairah camp will be held on December 5 from 9am to 12pm.

Meanwhile, Max Way institute of cricket training (MICT) has set up coaching centres at Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah Wanderers Sports Club.

The coaching in Ras Al Khaimah will be held at the Kerala Samaj compound in Al Nakheel Area under Rajan Shrivastav, a qualified level two coach from Mumbai Cricket Association and Kashif Ahmad, coach from the Rashid Latif Academy in Pakistan.

The coaching session will be held on December 2, 7, 8, 10 and 12 from 7.30am.

The coaching under the Sharjah Wanderers will be conducted by Paul Pattison, a qualified coach from Cricket Australia, Adelaide, Shah Hussain, the Emirates Cricket Board coach and Nihal Prasad, a coach from Sri Lanka.
