Dubai: The battle to decide the next America's Cup champions will be held in Valencia after the Defender Société Nautique de Genève (SNG) confirmed last night that it will conduct a Deed of Gift Match with the Golden Gate Yacht Club (GGYC) in February 2010.

The SNG, representing defending champions Alinghi, has also expressed its intention to publish the 33rd America's Cup Notice of Race with immediate effect.

Ras Al Khaimah was SNG's first choice of venue, but this was declared invalid by the New York Supreme Court.

Proserpine/Airlie beach and Townsville in Australia were offered as alternatives.

Alinghi sails in the waters off Ras Al Khaimah for a media demonstration for the America’s Cup last February.
