Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to another edition of American Idol, The White House Edition, the show where you get to vote on who becomes the next president of the United States.
"We have an exciting show for you here tonight. As you see, the theatre is full tonight of screaming fans for our final four contestants.
"For you all watching at home tonight, as you can see, the studio is electric, the atmosphere is intense, and tonight, we're going to vote off one candidate, leaving us with just three before we pick the final two who will go head-to-head for your votes in our spectacular finale on November 4.
"Randy, have you any thoughts on the campaign so far?"
"Yo-yo dog, what's up? You know, for me, is was kinda all right, like there's something missing, like we haven't really got into a groove," you know what I mean, like it's kinda been all right so far."
"So you don't think the candidates have addressed the issues so far?"
"I think they're staying in their comfort zone, like they are singing the same predictable songs. I'd really like to see them burst out of their same sounds and, like, really wow me, blow me away. That's what I'm saying, dog."
"Excellent. Paula? What about you, What do you think has been the defining moment so far?"
"I'm so happy to be here and it's been all so wonderful and I think that it's really difficult and that when we reach this stage in the competition, they're all winners, and I don't think the issues are important. I think we need to look at where they've come from and it's all so great. I mean, we all know we're the greatest nation in the world and it doesn't really matter who wins as long as they can perform."
"Great, Paula, thank you. Simon. Any thoughts on who deserves to be here tonight and who deserves to go?"
"Yes, well I think it's been pretty terrible up to this so far. I mean they had to sing through those really bad theme weeks of economics, foreign policy, medicare, I mean it's all been pretty boring. I'm looking for star quality and I think all of the voters at home tonight are looking for a star, it is American Idol, I mean, it's not serious business like running the country or something."
"So have the voters been right so far, Simon?"
"Look, everyone knows that this time around, the voters aged between 18 and 25 will decide the outcome of this competition. Yes, the signers might try and play to the older conservatives or the trendy liberals, but at the end of the day, this whole competition is about star quality, the candidate with 'it', the 'it 'factor. That's who's going to win this thing."
"Thank you Simon. Let's get down to business, shall we.
"Here they are your top four American Idols: John McCain...Joe Biden...Sarah Palin...Barack Obama.
"John, last night you sang America the Beautiful. Randy said it was all right, Paula said you looked beautiful, and Simon said it was all pretty boring.
In tune
"Joe, you sang I did it My Way. Paula said you were a winner for getting this far, Randy said you would always be a member of his dog pound, while Simon said it was safe and you knew your comfort zone."
"Sarah, you sang There are more questions than answers. Randy said you were pitchy, a little off key; Simon thought you looked your best so far and you were really insightful, and Paula said she loved your glasses and wanted a pair just like them.
"Barack, you sang The Times They Are A Changin'. Randy said you're da bomb, Paula loved the sincerity in your voice, and Simon thought it was your best performance so far even though you sang that song in the early stages of the competition.
"Yes and what a night it has been. We are tallying up your votes and more people voted last night than when George Bush won four years ago. Yes, folks, for all you watching at home tonight, more of you vote in American Idol than vote for the American Presidency."
"Let's get down to business. The results... right after the break."
