When polls are not so black and white

Hillary Rodham Clinton is tenacious - a fighter, even. But in her stubbornness, has she damaged the Democratic Party irrevocably?

The long awaited decision by senior party members on whether to include the Florida and Michigan votes resulted in a weak compromise that did neither Clinton nor Barack Obama much good.

It merely narrowed the gap between them, with Obama still way ahead. If it were not Clinton's "fight to the death" approach she has had all along, then Obama would have been declared the victor long ago.

Polls showed early on that in majority, Americans prefer Obama over Clinton because the other way meant the choice was on racist grounds, whereas it was more acceptable (to most) to be considered chauvinist.

In other words, they don't mind a black president, but they don't want a female one. Now it remains to be seen if Americans prefer youth to experience.
