Use knowledge for future growth
The graduation of a new batch from the UAE University highlights once again the important role played by the young generations of Emiratis in the country's development process. With a total of 2,848 students graduating this year - of which 2,280 are women - it is expected they will soon become part of the workplace. The contributions of this young generation are required across various sectors, but more so in the private sector.
This is a matter that will gain significance in the future given that a new cluster of university facilities are planned. The "University Town" to be built in Al Ain at a cost of Dh2 billion is expected to be ready by 2010. It is therefore critical that new graduates are prepared to boost the workforce and not become a hindrance upon society. Knowledge is a powerful tool that should be utilised for the advancement of the nation.
