UAE ambitions frequently fulfilled

The Olympic Games and the Expo provide a perfect opportunity to showcase Dubai and the UAE to the rest of the world.

Earlier this week, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, attended a meeting of the organising committee of the working Group of Dubai 2020.

The object of this group is to bring every effort to bear to win bids for the Olympics and World Expo then.

While these goals are ambitious, the visionary leadership of Dubai and the UAE has never shirked from ambitious goals. Indeed, it was only days ago that Abu Dhabi portrayed to the world that planning and action can bring a Formula One circuit and race to fruition in a little over two years. The Yas Marina Circuit and the race were unrivalled successes.

Over the past 30 years, the UAE has developed into a vibrant and progressive modern society, where engineering challenges have been overcome: Today we are accustomed to the biggest, the best and the newest.

Striving to place the UAE in the forefront of global thinking is an ambitious goal. History, however, has shown that the UAE can succeed. Why not strive for Olympics and Expo gold?
