The idea behind the initiation of a drive that encourages people to be more healthy is welcome. Starting yesterday, Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) is holding a fun and interactive two-day festival during which nutritious cooking demonstrations, free medical checkups and fitness classes are on offer. "Healthier living starts with empowerment. We want to encourage people to take a proactive approach and the festival will be filled with activities, information and advice to help people lead healthy lives", said Aisha Abdullah, senior vice president of the DHCC.

It is easy for an individual to become trapped into living a sedentary life. In fact, there are many diseases that people in the UAE have developed as a result of such a lifestyle — this is evident among both children and adults. The only way to break this cycle is through education and an extensive outreach programme.
