Don't light up in public places
More than three years ago, Dubai prepared the groundwork for a no-smoking environment in public places. As such, it is long overdue to implement the ban on May 31, which the authority should enforce seriously.
Dubai, which has designated a part of its strategic plan for the protection of the environment, is moving in the right direction and it is the responsibility of every resident to help the authority to achieve its goal.
If a similar step is also taken at the federal level, the air in all the emirates would be free of pollution caused by smoking.
It is worth to remind those, including the tobacco industry, that every member of the society wants to live and work in a clean environment. As for smokers, they will now have to light up without hurting the non-smokers.
