An old saying implies that the wise take care of their health because without it, wealth has little value. But, the Health Ministry has been forced to warn residents in the UAE that they must change their unhealthy lifestyles, after a report revealed that, besides work stress, a lack of exercise and bad eating habits were effectively killing people by causing heart attacks and diabetes. Cardiovascular diseases were the main cause of death in the country (26 per cent) followed by traffic accidents (17.4 per cent).

Good living habits start from an early age. Parents have a responsibility to make sure their children are getting enough exercise and developing healthy eating habits that will stand them in good stead for the rest of their lives. They must do this by leading by example, to ensure that they too have a long and active life.
