Brutal raids are a cause of concern

In recent months, Israel has shown a consistency in brutally attacking various parts of the Gaza Strip and in doing so, has killed dozens of Palestinians. We hear news of Israeli aircraft targeting different parts of the city and killing at least one or two people on a daily basis. And sadly, they have gone unnoticed.

On Wednesday, at least seven Palestinians were killed by Israeli aircraft. Among them was a school teacher whose workplace, the agriculture school of Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip, was targeted. Children in that school were of course injured. What was their wrongdoing? And where is the international condemnation?

The ongoing Israeli raids on the Gaza Strip are a major cause of concern. Not only are its people trapped in a place where basic living necessities have become a luxury but they are having to live in constant fear - worrying when Israel might attack next. No one ever knows when or where the next one might be.

This persistence of aggression against an imprisoned people will only lead to further instability and more violence. Since late November, more than 140 Palestinians were killed by the Israelis. Indeed, the optimism produced by the Annapolis peace process looks to be highly unrealistic at this point.
