A vision that is bound to succeed

Dubai cares. And, guided by the foresight of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the emirate has taken a giant step in ensuring its citizens, both Emirati and expatriate, have a chance to renew their commitment as conscientious local and global citizens.

Education is a vital cog in the wheel of social and economic prosperity not just for the progress of a country but also for the stability of the world. Ignorance and poverty are unnecessary evils and, according to Shaikh Mohammad, "the only way to break this partnership is by relentlessly attacking ignorance and making every effort to spread education". The formation of the 'Dubai Cares' campaign spearheaded by Shaikh Mohammad and implemented by his children will seek to ensure that.

The 'Dubai Cares' campaign also provides corporate institutions in the UAE with a fantastic opportunity to stand up and be counted by galvanising their corporate social responsibilities to a higher level. Individuals too must be motivated to come forward and make a difference. It is a fitting social obligation during Ramadan.

The target to be achieved from this noble campaign is Dh200 million. The return from this hugely profitable investment is the education of one million school-age children worldwide.

Many countries have placed education at the top of their agenda as an important route on the road to progress. Shaikh Mohammad has reaffirmed the direction of the UAE and Dubai's role in particular on this journey. As he said, "Education is the bulldozer that makes this path navigable, guiding people along its course and towards their destination. Knowledge gives people the chance to live in pride, progress and prosperity."

This vision will definitely be realised. If it is Dubai, it is possible.
