Mercedes-Benz lets out images and details of the roadster ahead of its Geneva debut

Photos and details of the new Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG are out. Shortly after the range-topping version of the sexy new SL roadster was presented by F1 drivers Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg in Barcelona, Spain, Mercedes has revealed more details and images of the new model.
The SL63, which will have its official global debut at the upcoming Geneva show, is 125kg lighter than the previous model and will be powered by AMG's new M157 engine, which bowled us over in both the CLS63 AMG sports saloon and more recently the ML63 AMG SUV. The 5.5-litre twin-turbocharged V8 unit, which is good for 537bhp and 800Nm of torque, hurtling the tin-top roadster from 0-100kph in just 4.3 seconds on its way to an electronically limited top speed of 250kph. Opt for the Performance Pack and these figures can be bumped up to 564bhp, 900Nm, 4.2sec and 300kph. Adding to the car’s performance are active suspension, speed-sensitive sports steering, high-performance brakes and the AMG seven-speed automatic transmission.
The new Mercedes-Benz SL 63 AMG will go on sale starting May this year and prices in Europe start at €157,675 (Dh766,000) with the Performance Pack costing an additional Dh21K.
