October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and XPRESS will show you how to give yourself a beauty boost and help the charities as well.

Want to show your support for a charity by doing more than wearing a pin brooch or donating a few dirhams?

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is the perfect time to splash your cash on beauty products to help a good cause.

Almost 10,000 women were diagnosed with the disease in the UAE between 2002 and 2006 and charities such as the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of the Emirates help the lives of those affected.

So think pink for October. Supporting the cause never looked – or felt – so good.

Make-Up

Stock up on must-haves for your make-up bag with products that support breast cancer awareness charities.

From fuchsia to pretty pastels, big brands across the world are giving their backing with a bevy of pink products.

But in the UAE, the campaign is being spearheaded by Estee Lauder. The company will donate 100 per cent of the proceeds from the sale of their lip gloss, compact powders and ribbon pins to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of the Emirates, founded by Dr Houriya Kazim, one of the UAE's leading breast cancer surgeons.

"This year we are launching a new campaign. It's called Win the Fight on Breast Cancer and it signifies the importance of bringing people together to fight breast cancer until there is a cure," says Didier Picard, vice president/general manager, Estee Lauder Middle East.

Wardrobe And Accessories

Replenish your wardrobe with clothes from the Saks Fifth Avenue store at the BurJuman.

The store is holding a special shopping weekend between October 24 and October 27.

During this time, two per cent of sales will benefit Friends of Cancer Patients, a charity based in Sharjah.

You can also pick up jewellery and other accessories from the Pink Bazaar being set up at BurJuman on October 19 and October 20.

Body

Blitz your body at Park Hyatt's award-winning spa, Amara.

The hotel will donate 20 per cent of revenue from each ‘Pampered in Pink' spa package to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation of the Emirates.

An outdoor rain shower prepares you for a hydro massage incorporating colour therapy and Ann Semonin bathing oils and milks.

Whilst you experience your underwater massage, a seaweed mineral face mask will be applied to revive your complexion.

This is followed by 90 minutes of massage using Shiatsu, reflexology, Swedish, Indian and Thai massage techniques.

Complete this wonderful ritual with teas, mint and lime water, dates, almonds and apricots served alongside a selection of cuisine from the Amara menu.

Use of the swimming pool, gymnasium, lounges and steam rooms are also included. Cost: Dh690 for two hours.
