Zareena's Ethnic Workmanship

Inspired by culture and tradition from various ethnic motifs, renowned Emirati designer Zareena Yousuf launched her latest collection with a lavish fashion show at Dubai World Trade Centre.

Showcasing 75 new designs, the collection, called Ethnic Workmanship, was inspired by traditional motifs and embroidery based on jalabiyas, evening gowns and smart trousers.

Blending vintage Afghani references, Zareena has used the thread zari and the gotha (the metallic fabric commonly used in Indian designs) as well as luxurious crepes and chiffons.

Zareena said: "My pieces represent a striking marriage between simplicity and richness, emphasising the very essence of elegance and infusing different cultures.

"I carefully design and bejewel each piece of art. In terms of fabrics, I always use chiffon and crepe because they blend well together," she said.
