It is understandable that since parts of Al Wahda Street are still under construction, commuters would have to face certain obstacles. However, I urge the authorities to find new alternatives for inner access routes, as it is impossible for residents to navigate, especially during rainy weather.
On a daily basis, I encounter problems on the route leading to and from my workplace. The road often becomes muddy and is flooded in winter months, leading to a massive number of vehicle breakdowns. Additionally, no matter how clean one keeps his or her car, one is bound to face embarrassment on the main road, because the vehicles become stained with dirt and mud.
Although the skies seem clearer nowadays, I think it is best to avoid a repeat of the past year's situation. Since the rains will come again, I request the authorities to provide commuters with the appropriate roads and access routes.
Additionally, I urge them to conduct comprehensive surveys and studies to locate problem areas and find temporary solutions while the road projects are being completed.
As a resident of the area, I can speak for my neighbours when I say that we do not mind waiting till the project in Al Wahda Street is finished, even if it takes a couple of years. However, we do need to travel and require the assurance that our vehicles will not end up in a ditch or streaked with mud, when we leave our homes.
