Dubai: From October 12, all online visa applicants will be prompted to use Aman and Oman health insurance services, the Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD) announced on Tuesday.

Those applying through its portal, www.ednrd.ae, will have to enter information as indicated and will automatically receive the health insurance cover related to the type of visa applying for.

As earlier announced by the DNRD, health insurance cover is one of the mandatory requirements to enter the country. It has singed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with Aman Insurance Company and Oman Insurance Company to offer easy access to the health insurance providers within the DNRD premises, as a value-added service for all applicants. The two companies will now extend their services to offer health insurance policies associated with all online visas.

Colonel Eid Al Falasi, assistant director of DNRD for financial and administrative affairs, said: "We want to ensure that we offer the best and most comprehensive service to our customers in the shortest possible time frame."

Applicants who file their applications in person through the typing centres at the DNRD headquarters and external centers reserve the right to select the insurance company of their choice as long as they are in line with the terms and framework of the health insurance policies previously declared by the department.

Prices start form Dh40 for short-term visas valid for 30 days, Dh90 for visas valid for 90 days and Dh185 for multiple entry visas valid for 180 days with a minimum limit of Dh50,000 per person per visit.
