Violators, including illegal vendors, arrested in latest inspection campaign
Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Interior has arrested 170 residency law violators — 100 illegal street vendors, 53 violators of the law on entry and residency of foreigners, and 17 illegal workers.
All violators were transferred to the relevant authorities for necessary legal action.
The inspection was carried out by Sharjah’s General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in different parts of the emirate in collaboration with Sharjah Police, Bureau of Labour, Economic Department, and Sharjah Municipality.
Brigadier Dr Abdullah Ali Saeed Bin Sahoo, Head of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Sharjah, said that this campaign comes as part of the plan set up to curb the phenomenon of illegal residents. Brigadier Bin Sahoo stressed the need for continuity of inspection campaigns to combat any practices contrary to the law and regulations in the state.
He also urged the public not to deal with street vendors and buy luxury items and food from them as the quality of these materials may be suspect and unlicensed food vendors may even cause the spread of infectious diseases.
