The chic ambience and cuisine at Traiteur is hard to leave behind.
To get to the restaurant, you have to go through the classy lobby until you reach the Creek where all the yachts are located. Traiteur overlooks these stunning views, which on a sunny day (with a cool breeze) makes a perfect spot for a relaxed brunch. To my surprise, Traiteur had a completely different but pleasant experience in store for us.
When I walked in, I was instantly taken by the chic decor and live jazzy tunes, which made me feel as if I'd been transported back in time. Everybody at the table seemed to be having a great time with their drinks, as they sampled French cuisine.
The restaurant, set on two levels connected by a showpiece staircase, is definitely glamorous.
The level of service and the staff's hospitality will not go unnoticed. Smiling and affable, they move around the tables serving cocktails. Every few sips, they would come around to refill our glasses, which made us feel very well attended to.
The buffet was very rich and offered a wide range of appetisers, side dishes, a live station with raw calamari, shrimp, lamb and anything else you may be craving. While the salmon and side-dishes were wonderful, the salty French tarts were too overstuffed for my liking and the shrimps were slightly bland.
The meat, according to my friend, was delicious and the ingredients used were all very fresh.
The buffet also had a separate section for French cheese, which is notable for its strong aroma and distinct taste. As is the norm with the French, the cheese platter is served at the end of a meal. It's a great way to soothe the palate after the main course. But my eyes were set on the restaurant's desserts. There was an entire section dedicated to the sweet stuff. Heavenly!
My love for desserts surpassed that for the cheese and I rushed to taste the different kinds of desserts being offered - from the tarts to the chocolate fondant, to the live stations with crêpes and crème brûlée.
When you have a sweet tooth, it's really hard to say that there's something you didn't like, but I would definitely reserve a special place for the crème brûlée and the chocolate fondant.
The great thing about Traiteur is that the atmosphere is so great you just don't want to leave. You can take a break by taking your drink to sip outside by the Creek before returning inside to sample some more dessert and listen to the jazzy tunes. The experience can go on for hours!
Plus, a new special offer at Traiteur now gives guests who dine there the chance to win a pair of tickets for a seaplane tour of Dubai. What more can you ask for? Get yourself down to Traiteur and let your eyes and palate feast over this appetising brunch - you won't be disappointed.
