Bollywood top acts Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Sunidhi Chauhan are all set to make their Mirchi Bollywood Rocks gig this Friday at the Dubai World Centre a legendary one.

tabloid! caught up with Chauhan to find out all about the epic night, and asked Chauhan to recount the memories associated with her most requested songs. Did you know that hitmaker Chauhan had written off her iconic number Sheila Ki Jawani as ‘cheesy’? Read on for her thoughts on those hits we love.

Bidi Jalai Le (Omkara): “I never thought that any song of mine could get bigger than ‘Dhoom Macha Le’ but this one did.”

Sheila Ki Jawani (Tees Maar Khan): “When I was writing down the lyrics (as I always do before dubbing), I asked Vishal [Dadlani] ‘what does Sheila Ki Jawani mean?’. In my head, the lines sounded cheesy, if I may say so. But look where Sheila reached, and I am happy I was a part of this song.”

Ainvayi Ainvayi (Band Bajaa Baraat): “I had a difficult time putting in so much power in those low notes, as this entire track is low in scales. But I was happy with the way this song finally shaped up.”

Tee Amo (Dum Maro Dum): “I finished the recording of this song in 90 minutes flat and came back home really happy.”

Ishq Sufiyanaa (The Dirty Picture): “On the day of recording, I had a bad throat so I had to put it off. But the song kept buzzing in my head. So till I finished recording, I didn’t find peace.”

Kaisi Paheli (Parineeta): “I came back home after recording and was informed about the actress the song was going to be filmed on. I was like: ‘wait, did I just sing for the diva Rekha? Wow.’ I was in seventh heaven. That element was such a big surprise and an honour to lend my voice for an eternal enchantress.”

Disco Deewane (Student Of The Year): “This will always be my ode to the “Disco” era.”

Mere Haath main (Fanaa): “I felt marvellous singing this love composition by Jatin-Lalit. It was a cherished moment for me because I always wanted to sing for these brilliant music composers. It was a dream come true with Mere Haath Mein.”

Desi Girl (Dostana): “This is my anthem and my ode to all the desi beauties out there. So come on, let’s rock them.”
