Dear editor,

I request you to publish this letter, as this email comes by request from 100 MBA students of Manipal University Dubai. This letter comes to you in regards to one of the most famous Indian affiliated universities in Dubai Academic City.

We, a batch of about 100 MBA students, were charged Dh400 per person for a convocation ceremony at Renaissance Hotel Deira. Each additional family member or friend was to be charged Dh200 per person. I don’t seem to understand this when the university claims to be a non-profit organisation. They could have just allowed at least two members of a family to enter for free.

A request letter was sent to the head of the university requesting him to allow just two members without lunch, but they refused to even reply to this. I am not sure if recession has become a reason for universities also to make money.
