Ten students from AUS travel to Bahrain to participate in the Universities Model United Nations.

A ten-member delegation from the American University of Sharjah left to Bahrain to participate in the Fourth Bahrain Universities Model United Nations (BUMUN), which ends today. The event is under the patronage of Bahrain's Shaikh Fawaz Bin Mohammad Al Khalifa, the President of the General Organization for Youth and Sports in Bahrain.

BUMUN is a learning conference that introduces delegates to the Model United Nations experience in a friendly and social environment. The conference will provide an opportunity for student delegates to build their debate skills and discuss global affairs that face their generation.

This programme simulates the process of discussion, negotiation and lively debate that is the cornerstone of the United Nations activity. It aims to teach university students diplomacy, tolerance and leadership skills to develop a deeper understanding of world affairs.

"It's the first time that I will be participating in such a conference. I am very proud and quite excited to be representing UAE, my country, as well as my university at an international forum," said Essam Hassan Al Murawwi, one of the AUS students participating in the event.

The eight AUS students chosen were selected based on a variety of criteria including their academic records, their extracurricular activities, volunteer activities and more, according to Munketh Taha, Director of Student Activities at the AUS Office of Student Affairs.
