Shaikh Mohammad reaffirms UAE’s keenness to host Expo 2020

His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, reaffirmed the keenness of the UAE leadership and official and public relevant bodies in hosting the World Expo 2020. He stressed the significance of hosting the event and in extending a cultural and humanitarian bridge between the people of the UAE, region, and world.

Shaikh Mohammad made his comments after receiving Steen Christiansen, Chairman of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) Executive Committee, and his accompanying delegation at Zaabeel Palace. The BIE delegation is currently on a visit to Dubai to be acquainted with the capabilities of the UAE that qualify Dubai to host the World Expo 2020.

During a discussion with Christiansen, Shaikh Mohammad pointed out that the UAE is representing countries in the region in its attempt to gain the approval and vote of the international community to host this event, which he said is a very prominent event on the international expos stage because it brings together a variety of cultures, regardless of their ethnic backgrounds. He added that the World Expo also brings together scientific, technological and industrial innovations and various global products that will find in Dubai a gateway to many nations, peoples and regional markets.

Shaikh Mohammad reaffirmed that the UAE’s leadership, federal and local governments, official and private bodies are all communicating and coordinating at the highest levels to ensure that the UAE is carrying out all necessary preparations to win over the international community’s trust in choosing Dubai as a host for World Expo 2020.

Steen Christiansen, and his accompanying delegation, expressed their profound gratitude for the UAE’s warm welcome and hospitality, and praised the constructive cooperation shown by all concerned parties on the official and public level.

Steen highly praised the manifestations of progress, urban development, and economic growth, and harmony shown among various segments of UAE society, which is comprised of people from various nationalities, ethnicities and cultures.

Later, Shaikh Mohammad hosted a lunch banquet in honour of Steen and BIE delegation, which was attended by various Shaikhs, ministers, and senior officials.
