Since the actress Natalie Portman played Queen Padmé Amidala in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, it has been difficult to follow her career without remembering her romance with Anakin Skywalker and her destiny as the mother of Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa.

The role played by Padmé in the final outcome of Star Wars is very important, since the secret love she had with Anakin Skywalker, began as the Jedi Order was being decimated and continued alongside Anakin's conversion from Jedi Knight to Sith Lord Darth Vader.

Padmé is from a small planet called Naboo, where she was democratically elected Queen, a huge responsibility for a 14-year-old girl who has to defend her planet from the brutal occupation of the Trade Federation.

Throughout all the prequels, Padmé Amidala demonstrates that she is a capable and brave woman as much in politics as in combat. Padmé overcame the Trade Federation's droid army in the battle of Naboo with the help of the Gungan army and the Jedis Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Here's some interesting facts about Padmé. Her birth name is Padmé Naberrie. She is the main protagonist of two Star Wars books and a solid character of the Star Wars Expanded Universe. Her incredible hair and makeup stands out, especially in The Phantom Menace. Her white-painted face has stylised beauty marks on her cheeks to display symmetry, and the paint that divided her lower lip was called a "scar of remembrance".

Sometimes people arrive at crossroads of life and death. The end of Padmé's life, who dies in childbirth, brought about the beginning of Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa's lives, two siblings who would finish the task that their mother began.
