It may have sold out in the US and UK in a record 24 hours but the UAE could prove the best place to watch Michael Jackson's This Is It.

Scheduled to be screened at 21 cinemas each capable of seating 500 people, across Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the movie, which is only being shown for two weeks all over the world, will take priority when it comes to showing on more screens.

Distributor Empire International's operations manager, Kifah Ghraizi said up to 12 screenings a day would take place at all venues in the UAE if the demand was there.

"There are no limitations for us which is great as nobody will be left disappointed." The film, which opens tomorrow at 9pm across the UAE, documents the final months of Jackson's life and includes footage from his rehearsals for his UK tour.

"4,000 advance tickets have been sold but there are lots available with a potential to allow more than 70,000 per day to witness this wonderful film," said Ghraizi. Tickets can be bought at any cinema box office in the UAE.

The invite-only premiere, complete with red carpet for local celebrities and industry heads, will take place at Reel Cinema at the Dubai Mall at 8pm — just an hour before the film opens to the general public. An after-party will take place from 10pm at The Address, Dubai Mall. Entry to the party will be granted to just 250 people on a first-come, first-served basis.
