Jolina will return to S.O.P., the actress assures fans
Not true." That's what Jolina Magdangal said when asked if she was resigning from the top-rating variety programme S.O.P. allegedly to sympathise with Perry Lansigan, her agent and executive producer of the show, who resigned recently.
S.O.P. went through a reformat and some of the show's mainstays have either been given new roles on the programme or transferred elsewhere.
Magdangal will be back on the show early next year. She has admitted she needs to repackage herself, and the "new" Jolina will be seen on the revamped show in February 2010.
In the meantime, she's busy with her other show, Dear Friend, which has been rating reasonably well. Besides her showbiz engagements, Jolina keeps busy managing several businesses.
Sole Survivor
The winner of the recently concluded Survivor Philippines Palau is none other than Amanda Colley Van Cooll. The Filipino-American, a construction worker in Alaska, has outwitted, outplayed and outlasted her fellow castaways to become the Pinoy Sole Survivor of the second local adaptation of the popular reality TV franchise.
Prior to the final jury vote, Amanda was in a three-cornered fight between hot favourite Justine Ferrer and Jef Gaitan.
When the jury votes were announced, Amanda was tied with Justine with three votes, with still one to go. Many were expecting show host Paulo Bediones to call out Justine's name as he plucked out the last jury vote, but everyone was surprised when he revealed Amanda's name.
After 39 gruelling days, 24 challenges and 40 excruciating Tribal Council meetings, Amanda was declared this year's winner. For her efforts, she wins a tax-free cash windfall of Php3,000,000 (Dh235,477).
Amanda plans to use her cash prize to build a house for her parents and to run a poultry farm in Mindoro, a province south of Manila.

No one could be happier than Rhian Ramos, one of the stars, who was the subject of malicious attacks and intrigues from both critics and fans when she was chosen to lead the cast along with hunky Dingdong Dantes.
Ramos and the show's producers are having the last laugh as it is now dominating the primetime TV race in MegaManila. She isn't just a relative of an executive of the studio that produces the show — she has proven her worth as an artist.
