Dubai: Omran, the Government of Oman's tourism and development executive arm, and the Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) have signed an agreement to develop the Crowne Plaza Duqum Resort, the second Crowne Plaza resort in the Sultanate of Oman.

The Crowne Plaza Duqum Resort, which is scheduled to open in 2011, will consist of 228 rooms which will include 11 executive suites and six family and junior suites.

John Bamsey, Chief Operating Officer of IHG in the Middle East and Africa, said: "We are extremely honoured to be partnering with Omran once again for the development of the Crowne Plaza Duqum Resort.

Future opportunities

"We already operate other government owned properties in Oman - Al Bustan Palace InterContinental Muscat, InterContinental Muscat and Crowne Plaza Resort Salalah - and our collaboration on the Duqum project further demonstrates our long-standing relationship with Omran and our commitment to cooperate on future development opportunities within Oman," added Bamsey.

The new Crowne Plaza hotel will feature a speciality restaurant, an all-day restaurant, a seafood grill and pool bar and a lobby lounge.

In addition, there will be a fitness centre, a spa, and tennis courts as well as conference facilities.
