Dubai Summer Surprises period will see some hotels in the emirate up to 80 per cent full
Dubai: The Dubai Summer Surprises period will see some hotels in the emirate clocking occupancies up to 80 per cent banking on special promotions and discount offerings.
Naeem Derkezali, Vice President of Sales at Rotana Hotels, said he expects occupancies for the UAE hotels this summer to hover around "80 per cent".
"Hotels utilize events like DSS as an opportunity to create packages that are affordable and offer value-for-money experiences," he said.
Moevenpick Hotel Deira, meanwhile, expects occupancy levels to reach 70 per cent plus during the DSS period, according to Joydeep Gosh, the hotel's Director of Sales and Marketing.
Room rates
"We have revised our room rates for the summer period in general, which coincides with the DSS period," he told Gulf News.
DSS 2011, organised yearly by the Dubai Events and Promotions Establishment, acts as a summer attraction for families and visitors across the GCC.
For some hotel companies such as the Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts, on the other hand, summer is a "softer period".
Said Christian Pertl, Vice President Sales and Marketing - Dubai for Jumeirah Group: "Summer is traditionally a softer period for Jumeirah hotels in Dubai and we always develop special packages during that period."
