Spain eyes increased UAE trade

Abu Dhabi: Spain's exports to the UAE last year were valued at 1.2 billion euros (Dh6.624 billion), but there's greater potential for expanding trade, Spain's Vice Minister for Trade Alfredo Bonet said on Wednesday.

"Bilateral investment figures continue to be modest and they do not reflect the potential that both economies have," Bonet said in a speech at the second UAE-Spain Investment Summit in Abu Dhabi.

He said Spain's economy had been in a long growing phase since the mid-1990s, with a real gross domestic product increase of three per cent to 3.5 per cent annually.
