Seafood fair shows people's love for ocean delights
Dubai: The value of seafood export increased 7 per cent last year to Dh338.01 billion ($92 billion), according to market reports.
The region's seafood business came to the light yesterday with the inauguration of the latest edition of Seafood Expo that runs till Wednesday.
The exhibition, held at the Madinat Arena Conference Hall in Madinat Jumeriah Hotel has attracted 185 exhibitors from 30 countries.
The event serves as a powerful platform for regional and international companies to showcase their products and developments in technology, equipment and services, and tap into the Middle East's booming seafood market.
"The ever-growing expatriate population in the Middle East has been fuelling the increase in demand for fisheries and aquaculture products in the region," Raees Ahmad, organiser of the event, said in a statement.
"We have invited the world's top seafood producing countries to ensure that only the highest-quality products will be on display," he added.
